We had a play day today. As Abby described it, it feels like a vacation from a vacation! A couple of months ago, we decided to do a day at Singapore Universal Studios - a slightly smaller version of its U.S. counterpart.
Before we went, we did discuss with the girls if they were actually going to go on most of the rides - it was a pretty big treat for us, and we didn't want them to get relegated to kiddy rides due to fear of the big ones. Well they passed with flying colours - they tackled all of the big rides no problem.
Here were the duelling Battlestar Galactica coasters that were their favourites...
The Transformers 4D ride had the longest ride in the park (the girls and Beth went in when the line said 50 minutes, I saw it get as high as 120 minutes!). While I waited outside the ride, people watching, I discovered a cure for "selfie addiction". I found watching the (mostly female) long line of people taking selfies with the photo below in the background, shifting back and forth and making really weird shapes with their lips, kind of sickening. I'd never really watched that many people taking selfies before, and it really left me with a weird, almost sad feeling for some reason. Or maybe the feeling was just Gravol on a semi-empty stomach!
Like the Florida version, they had a few shows too. We went to the Waterworld show, which was fun, but which really hammered down the fact that making it into a movie was a bad financial investment for Kevin Costner backers.
I thought the Mummy ride, identical to the Florida one, would freak the kids out, but no luck - they enjoyed it.
Robin had a lot of pent up anxiety about the Jurassic Park ride (her and Abby aborted getting in the ride at the front for the line about 5 years ago and they still remember it as scary! As expected, it was very tame- Robin survived with a relieved smile!
There were a bunch of kiddy rides that held no interest in Far Far Away land, but I did pull a "Probir" by falling asleep for the 15 minute Shrek 4D ride.
The little kids with their big Minion friend!
It was a pretty short cab ride home, but Robin still managed to catch some zzzz's!
The girls had a quick swim and then it was back outside for dinner. I found a Yoshinoya - sweet Japanese beef bowl!! Beth and Abby found the salads that they'd been talking about for weeks. We spent an hour or so on the way home in the markets on Bugis Street. So far, so good. I could live in this City for sure!
