That said, amazing what a news scare will do to bring friends and family to you quickly. We arrived home early from the food tour that wasn't to a dozen messages from friends and family. Team Deloitte responded with her (that's right, I've chosen to categorize Deloitte as a female because I can. Why not?!) usual amazing grace and provided up to date information on security risks and plenty of offers for support should the situation get more serious. There is something incredibly comforting knowing I have a virtual network of support if needed. Nevertheless, we were not in any danger and are but four people in a sea of 14 million. Might have been a good time to explore that meditation app on my iPad but instead, I spent hours combing the Internet for clues or suggestions on our next move. In the end, we had a reasonably decent couple of days trying to guess where safe places would be without going crazy from holing ourselves up in the hotel. Admittedly, my nerves (and therefore my disposition) weren't amazing and the news of the second bomb at a river pier on Tuesday did not help.
With that hopefully behind us, we head to Chiang Mai for an eagerly anticipated portion of the trip. We do have plans to return to Bangkok for two nights on the 26th but will continue to monitor the situation. Today is day 100. I think that is worth celebrating!
