Hill top yoga at Mirissa Beach
I'd been wanting to try a yoga class on this trip and hadn't really settled anywhere with one that worked time wise. I found Rukshanyoga online and decided to give it a try this morning. Abby was quick to agree to join me, Robin needed a tad more persuasion but in the end, the three of us were off for our 9am class. Turns out we were the only students plus a student instructor who is here training with Rukshanyoga for 3 months. The girls were happy although I always like bigger classes to try and "blend in" (hide) more! We got started with some Bhakti yoga which is chanting and a meditation walk around a Buddhist temple. We lit some incense, prayed to Buddha for "freedom of mind" followed by one of our own wishes. Once we were done at the temple, we entered the class for the physical part of the session. Rukshan was great to quickly later the class to his new beginners, focusing on animal poses and teaching us sun salutations until we could do them on our own. Kids were great. I kept missing a step! We then did a few exercises in pairs, and finally moved to relaxation yoga where we learned to relax each other. Followed by some 'om' chanting, then we called it a day! Finished at 11:20am and had worked up an appetite for lunch. Abby has asked to go back. Robin said she enjoyed it, but would take a pass next time. Lol. Here are a few pics from this morning with my girls. The bottom one was taken to show my mother-in-law and sister-in-law that I am still the tallest female in my family!
