A poem by Abby: Desert Town

Desert Town:

I wake up on a clear day
The air swirls with dust
Seeing the yellow town

It's a desert town
Camels walk the dunes
Shops open at the crack of dawn

The desert streets are filled with life
Locals selling antiques and scarves
Cows roam the busy streets

There is so much energy, it's overwhelming
The late afternoon sun sits high in the sky
The rays of the sun beam down on the back of my neck

The smell of fresh Indian bread fills the air
The sound of laughter booms in all the cafes
After, they go back to their shops

Shops are packing up for the day
The big red sun starts to set
Soon, streaks of red and yellows are painted across the sky

Stars fill the desert air
Darkness consumes the little town
Soon, the desert city slowly goes to sleep
