Meet me at Hachicko
Hachiko is the most famous meeting spot in Japan. Read the cool origin story here if you're interested. Being back in Shibuya, the young heart of Tokyo brought back a lot of awesome memories.
Ueno Zoo
After having a quick refreshment at the huge Starbucks in Ueno Park, Daddy, Robin and I went to the little zoo in the park. My favourite exhibits where the pandas, the elephants and the seal along with the walrus type thing. The walrus thing and the seal were so entertaining to watch. They would swim back and forth in a circle and occasionally swim up this water tube (although the walrus thing was too fat!). The elephants seemed really smart and the trainers were grooming them like they were horses. The pandas were super cute- one was named Lily and the other was Shinshin. They would just sit, eat, sit, and eat some more!
The Yamanote line
Abby said today "why can't Toronto be like this". She was referring to the incredible organization of the streets, walkways and especially the trains. You can really get used to being able to take a train to within 500 meters of anywhere in this huge metropolitan area. We took a little stop motion video of the ring route Yamanote line that goes around central Tokyo.

Day 2: Asakusa
This morning we collected the walking dead suffering from jetlag (aka room 405 who were up at 4am and Steve and Kristine who were up at 430am), had a great breakfast and headed out to Shinjuku station.
Abby has been asking to get "crushed" into a commuter train, and she got her wish as we were squeezed into the Chuo express train. Our destination was in eastern Tokyo to an area called Asakusa. With temples and little shopping streets, our group was in heaven!
The full Japanese experience
Just experienced our first earthquake. The building feels like it's breathing. Very minor and I recall them happening fairly frequently when we lived here. Nevertheless glad it's over. Strange feeling and lots of questions from Robin. All good grandparents!
